Abstract

This paper discusses the application of using triangular fuzzy numbers to represent the processing time, the release time and the due date in a single machine environment. A fuzzy maximum approach is proposed for computing the fuzzy starting time and the fuzzy maximum lateness. A heuristic algorithm is then designed for solving single machine problems. As a result, the algorithm can help programmer to implement a fuzzy single machine system, thus helping managers gain a broader view of scheduling.
