

Competition: An Analysis of Japanese Non-Life Insurance Industry” written by Jeng, Wang,
and Hsiao (2017), respectively study the impacts of market competition and CEO turnover in
insurance industries. Furthermore, in their papers, Ho (2017) employed U.S. data whereas
Jeng, Wang, and Hsiao (2017) used Japanese data. Indeed, young Taiwanese researchers
have demonstrated their research capability on using international data to study leading
issues in the insurance literature.
In summary, the six papers accepted by this special issue demonstrates the development
of risk management and insurance in Taiwan, which ranks as top one in Asia and about the
seventh in the world.
