conjecture which has rarely been tested in prior studies. They invite enterprises who
outsource the implementation of BDA systems to integrators to answer the questionnaires.
Their analyses of 107 observations show that the integration and technical services
provided by system integrators help enhance cooperation among business units and elevate
the analytics capability of IT departments, leading firms to successfully develop BDA
capabilities. Moreover, BDA capability significantly and positively impacts operational
efficiency. By exploring the antecedents affecting the formation of BDA capabilities, the
study offers companies insight into the challenges of developing BDA capability, as well
as how system integrators help solve problems and facilitate completion of their projects.
Overall, this study fills the gap in literature pertaining to the perspectives of system
integrators involving in BDA system implementation projects.
The fifth article “The Relationship between Strategy and Hemodialysis Performance:
The Moderating Role of Competitive Intensity” in the field of healthcare management
by Chang, Huang, Chiao, and Lin examines the effects of three operating strategies and

form four hypotheses based on transaction cost theory and the competitive dynamics
perspective. To test their hypotheses and verify their proposition-regional competitive
intensity may moderate the strategy performance relationship, the study obtains 1,588
records from regional and district hospitals, which contain information regarding their
hemodialysis-related management strategies and performance outcomes in 2012 and
2013 while using the Herfindahl-Hirschman index as a proxy for competitive intensity.
The results indicate that in terms of efficiency, hospitals adopting cooperation and
outsourcing strategies operate more efficiently than those adopting vertical integration
strategies, though the differences between the cooperation ones and outsourcing ones
are insignificant. As for the quality, they find that hospitals adopting outsourcing
strategies tend to provide services with higher quality in hemodialysis as compared with
those adopting cooperation or vertical integration ones. Their analysis also reveals that
competition in southern Taiwan is the highest whereas the lowest is in central Taiwan.
These findings support that regional competitive intensity may have the moderating effect

on the strategy-performance relationship of the hemodialysis operations.
